Your first interaction
Make a welcome message that appears when a player joins your plot in Play.
Place the event
Section titled “Place the event”- Create or join your own plot and enter
/dev. - Find the code area and select the Event tool.
- Place an Event block on a code line. Right-click its block or sign.
- Choose Choose Operation, then find Player Join under Player events. Search is also available.
The Event begins a line. Blocks following it run when the event occurs; unrelated nearby blocks do not become its inputs merely because they are close.
Add the message
Section titled “Add the message”- Place Call Method after the Event along the line.
- Open it and set Target Object to Event Target.
- Choose Send Message. A Player Join event supplies a Player target.
- Configure its String input as
Welcome to my plot!. Click an empty String argument with no copied item to open the literal dialog, or copy a configured String item from Objects. - Close the editor with Esc.
Event: Player Join Call Method Target Object: Event Target Operation: Send Message Message: Welcome to my plot!Compile and test
Section titled “Compile and test”Run /plot compile. Wait for success, then /play. If you were already playing, leave and re-enter so Player Join occurs again. A successful compile activates the draft; an unsuccessful compile leaves the previous working program active.
If no message appears, check that you compiled this plot, that the block follows the correct Event, and that Target Object is Event Target. A no-object call shows plot/world actions instead of Player actions.
Extend the result
Section titled “Extend the result”Replace the message with Two plus three is ${2 + 3} and compile again. The message becomes Two plus three is 5. Continue with expressions to use variables and calculated values.
